BLUEGILL

Very Good

IDNR-Fisheries were pleasantly surprised with what fish from the sampling! These fish ranged from 2” to 9” and weighed up to .52 lbs. 47% attained 6”, 42% reached 7”, 7% topped 8”, and 2% made it to 9” in total length.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Average

IDNR-Fisheries stocks this species at 8” to 10” on a periodic basis. Site Regulation: 6 fish daily creel limit.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Good

Terry Park Pond has a solid bass population. During the fall of 2014, bass captured measured from 4” to 17.25”, and weighed up to 2.6 lbs. 27% were at least 12”, 8% exceeded 15”, and none were found over 18” during this survey. Site Regulation: 15” minimum length limit; 3 fish per day creel limit.

Location: Terry Park Lake is located in Macoupin County, 1.5 miles east of Palmyra, IL, within Terry Park.

Description: Terry Park Pond is under cooperative management between The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the Terry Park Board. This agreement was put into effect on September 5, 1995 to monitor, and manage the pond for all recreational users.

The lake is 3.4 acres in size, with a maximum depth of 9 feet, and an average depth 4 feet. The lake has a shoreline length of .55 miles with the majority easily accessed by bank anglers.

Terry Park Pond has no boat ramp and has access for bank anglers only. Bait and tackle can be purchased either at the Otter Lake Park office or in the town of Palmyra. Picnicking can be found at Terry Park, which is adjacent to the pond.

History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Approximately 11 species inhabit Terry Park Pond, including: channel catfish, bluegill, green sunfish, largemouth bass, redear sunfish, white crappie, black crappie, warmouth, yellow bullhead, golden shiner, and yellow bass.

Additional Lake Information: No boats are allowed on this water body. 2 pole and line fishing only.
