Fish Status



The bluegill population is stunted and poor. No bluegill over 8 inches were collected in the 2017 spring survey. Only one bluegill over 7 inches was collected.



The channel catfish population is average at best. No channel catfish were collected in the 2017 spring survey, however channel catfish have been collected during 8 of the last 9 surveys.



The crappie population is stunted but a few larger fish are present. Of the 27 crappie collected in the 2017 spring survey, only 2 were over ten inches. Both black and white crappie are present in the lake. Anglers are encouraged to harvest all crappie caught regardless of size to help thin out the population and increase the average size.



The largemouth bass population in this lake is poor. During the 2017 spring electrofishing sample, of the largemouth bass collected, 21% were over 15 inches, 21% were over 16 inches, and 6% were over 18 inches. Although anglers will typically not catch large numbers of bass in this lake, there are a few bigger bass present. Site Regulations: Largemouth bass: 15" minimum length limit; 3 fish daily limit.



One 7-inch redear sunfish was collected in the 2017 spring survey. This was the first redear sunfish collected in the last 4 surveys.

Location: Carbondale City Reservoir is located in Jackson County on the south side of Carbondale at Evergreen Park.

Description: Facilities at this 135 acre lake include a boat launch and bathroom. This lake is adjacent to Evergreen Park which includes playground and picnic areas.

Additional Lake Information: No gas motors are allowed on Carbondale City Reservoir. Two pole and line fishing only. Bow fishing is not allowed at this site.
