CRAPPIE

Average

Black and White crappie were collected at a 50/50 rate in 2018. Sample numbers were too low to calculate population characteristics. The Crappie population at Johnson Sauk trail has be a typical cyclic population of 3-5 years.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Good

Largemouth bass were captured at a rate of 158 fish per hour of electrofishing. 3% of the Largemouth bass sampled were 14 inches or larger. The Largemouth bass population continues to have a good population structure that will provide for quality fishing with a chance for a trophy size class fish.

MUSKELLUNGE

Good

Muskie will be stocked every third year starting in 2016. The 2018 sample had over 50 % of the sample greater than the minimum length limit of 36 inches.

Location: Johnson Sauk Trail Lake is located in Henry County 5 miles north of Kewane off Illinois Route 78.

Description: This 58-acre lake has a maximum depth of 21 feet. The majority of the shoreline is easily accessible to shoreline fishing.
